  • VINACAS cooperates with IEH to organize a training course on Ethical Trade in Cashew Manufacturing

    Vietnam plays an important role in the global cashew supply chain by importing 70% of raw cashew nuts from African countries, processing them into cashew nuts and other finished products, and selling them to many wholesalers before coming. Meanwhile, compliance with the standards of sustainable development is an important requirement for cashew exporters in Vietnam to participate in the global cashew supply chain and enhance the necessary reputation. in the international arena to gain access to major markets. This is also in line with the call of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and VINACAS to enhance the "added value" of Vietnam's cashew industry.

    The overall objective of the project is to contribute to a sustainable change of working conditions and environment in Vietnam cashew supply chain with members of IEH Norway, and to pay special attention to women and vulnerable groups.

    Within the framework of the Project from September 26-27, 2019, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Norwegian Ethical Trade Initiative (IEH) and the Vietnam Cashew Association - VINACAS jointly organized the Chapter. Training course for 20 medium and large-sized processors on social dialogue mechanism. Objectives: To raise the awareness of processing companies, especially subcontractors, on national and international labor standards; Promote dialogue between factory managers and workers as well as resolve complaints through sharing of experiences and case studies of effective dialogues between managers and workers; Collaborate with buyers to review the inspection process, ensuring monitoring of compliance by subcontractors to labor standards.
