  • Development of the cashew sector in Africa: A hundred African experts in training in Abidjan

    Feb 27th, 2020

Africa is the leading producer and exporter of cashew nuts in the world, with Côte d'Ivoire as the leading country. However, the cashew sector suffers from a lack of experts who will have to work for its sustainability and development.

It is to respond to this problem that the Competitive Cashew Initiative (Giz / ComCashew), in collaboration with the African Cashew Alliance (Aca) and supported by the Cotton and Cashew Council of Côte d'Ivoire , has been implementing a major training program called master trainers since 2013, which is now in its 10th edition. The first session of this edition opened on February 24 at the Belle Côte hotel in the Riviera.

Michel Kouassi, who represented the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, insisted that the need for training is real and the results of this session are impatiently awaited by the Ivorian authorities.
