  • Cashew early finish

    Dec 12th, 2016

Mr. Tran Van Yen, Tien Hung, Dong Phu District, Binh Phuoc Province excited, said his family this season "winning" big as dried cashew purchase price in the province has now reached 52.000d / kg. This can be considered a record-high prices in recent years. If compared to just a few months ago, the price has increased by more than 10,000 / kg and nearly doubled over the same period last year.Similarly, many farmers in some provinces that the Southeast as Dong Nai, Binh Duong ... are steep to supply goods for export processing plants which, by the purchase price of raw cashew nuts in this increase is quite high, averaging from 50,000 - 60,000 / kg. T

How ever, it is significant that local sources in the provinces where concentration of raw materials growing areas are being depleted by the costs were high, and some farmers were quick to push customers away in part because prices reached expectations, partly no reserve conditions. Meanwhile, in the enterprises, processing plants that export, due to insufficient material was imported to plan early to meet orders. As Mr. Nguyen Quoc, director of export of agricultural products Co., Ltd. Tan Hoa (Tay Ninh) said that due to the amount of raw materials purchased from farmers in the country are not many, while to wait a few months new addition to the new harvest should not timely delivery time. Therefore, the company took the initiative to import large volumes from Cambodia to serve the processing and export.

According to the director, the purchase price of raw materials is relatively high this year, up about 10% over the previous year but in return export prices also increased, averaged over $ 8,000 / tonne and the needs of customers in some countries like the United States, the Netherlands, China ... so businesses are strong efforts to promote exports in the last months. The latest report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) shows, the volume of which exports in November was estimated at 29,000 tonnes valued at $ 257 million, bringing the volume of exports of cashew nuts first 11 months of 2016 reached 320,000 tonnes worth raising nearly $ 2.6 billion, up 6.2% in volume and 18.3 in value over the same period. Year forecast, the export of Vietnam will reach 2.7 billion, which is 2.5 billion individual (the highest ever).

With this result, by 2016 Vietnam will continue to maintain a market share of 50% of total global trade. However, according to experts of the output and the value of the industry in Vietnam has increased in recent years despite a good signal but is not sustainable.By taking into account the present time, 60 -70% of processed cashew exporter in the country still has to import from Cambodia, some African countries ... so the quality and quantity is precarious, difficult to control. Moreover, looking at the structure of export commodities, crude production was still dominated, so value-added content is very low.

According to Nguyen Duc Thanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), the problem of import dependency of raw materials has yet to be fully resolved by having the time of procurement of raw materials prices low, farmers back cashew felled to plant other trees made the area increasingly shrinking. The import of raw materials from abroad makes the processing and export enterprises difficult to control the quality leading to reduced commercial value of goods of Vietnam thing. Besides, the companies have not focused on building brands for products processed in the country that is also a restriction needs to be overcome.

Mr. Thanh also added that earlier the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has approved the project of sustainable development of the cashew sector by 2020 with many goals as stable area of cashew 30,000, bringing the proportion of deep processing products up 20%, cashew nut shell oil up 50% ...In particular, focus on planning and arranging the export enterprises towards improving quality and ensuring food safety conditions, reducing small processing units, towards 100% basis cashew processing automation , closed, equipped with advanced technology ...

However, this strategy can realize in-depth and whether or not the thing itself every sector enterprises must plan for their deployment solutions by investing in technology machinery and equipment, improve quality finished products and materials connected with the farmers to maintain and stabilize production, exports can not do by way of "eating away" and there is nowhere like before.
