  • Almond growers starting to look outside California

    With its ideal climate, California produces more than 80 percent of the world’s almonds. But some farmers say current regulatory and business conditions are encouraging them to test cultivation in Arizona, Idaho and elsewhere.

    At the University of Idaho, researchers say long-term studies indicate almonds could be grown successfully there. But people in the California almond business say they don’t expect widespread plantings in other states.
