  • 15,000 farmers benefit from cashew nut project

    OVER 15,000 farmers have so far benefitted from the US$ 55 million cashew nut project out of the 60,000 targeted beneficiaries in the 10 participating districts of Western Province.

    In a recent interview, Western Province Provincial Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu said Government is targeting people who have the land, capacity, and interest in the project which is intended for the country’s economic development.“We are targeting people who are serious, have the capacity, own land since this is not a social welfare project,” he said.Mr Mubukwanu also said Government has collected and secured adequate seedlings that await distribution to farmers once the rains start.“We want a speedy implementation of the cashew nut project. We want to make sure that we get the right seed which is early maturing and will produce quality yields,” he said.He said the seedlings are being collected from the local seed…
